Kabul. 13-16 October

The second General Assembly of AIBA is held from 13 to 16^th of October 2011 in City Star Hall, Kabul city. The two first days were appointed to discuss on Afghan Bar By Law and Code of conduct, and the two last days of the GA were appointed to election of the candidates, who elected themselves in the posts of Director of AIBA, Deputy Directors, leader ship council, and Monitoring committee. The processes of the election were implemented by the Afghanistan Independent Election Committee. At the end of the General Assembly Mr. Ruhullah Qarizada was elected as director of AIBA by advocates and he got around 500 votes. Also Mr. Mohammad Zarif Stanekzay and Zulfia Zalmi were elected as Deputy Directors of AIBA, 12 advocates were elected as members of Leader ship council and also 5 advocates were elected as members of Monitoring Board. Over 1250 defence lawyers had participated in the second General Assembly of AIBA. Although this was the second time for afghan advocates practicing such an Assembly, but we have good achievements from. The representative of the US embassy in Kabul, the representative of the International Bar Association and representatives of the Bar associations and Afghan Government official authorities had participated and expressed their remarks on importance of the AIBA in Afghanistan. The General Assembly was financially supported by international donors.
